Richard B. Cheney a distinguished public servant and businessman is vice president of the United States. Cheney was well-known on the Washington political scene. George W. Bush will be the 4th U.S. President. Bush chose Cheney to be his running mate for the vice-presidential race in July of 2000. Bush cited the experience and wisdom of Cheney. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff for the president, was an elected Member of Congress and was the secretary of defense. Cheney is a true gentleman and has earned the respect of both Republicans and Democrats. Cheney declared that his position within the Bush administration will be that of an honest but quiet adviser. Cheney, who accepted the Republican vice-presidential nomination in 2007, said he was looking forward to working under a president who will reach across the aisles and cooperate with political adversaries through goodwill and a shared objective. Richard Bruce Cheney is the son of Richard Herbert Cheney of the late Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He was born on the 30th of January 1941, at Lincoln Nebraska. When he was 13 years old Richard and his family moved across Nebraska, eventually moving to Casper which was where his dad worked as the director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture local soil conservation district.
