The baby was born on March 29, 1985, in Roswell in New Mexico. Gerina Michel Mendoza is her name at birth. Gerina Stevenson was born in Mexico in the family of Mexican parents Alan Stevenson and Rita Stevenson. She has Mexican origins, however she is American by nationality. Since she was a child she has had a strong desire to participate in sports. Gerina first began playing golf at 15 years of age. Gerina has graduated from Goddard High School. In high school she was the winner of at the New Mexico Golf State Tournament. In addition, she was a volleyball player and competed on the level of state. In 2003, she started her studies at The University of Texas. During her senior years she took home every single tournament she competed in. While in her undergrad years, she was awarded the Conference USA's player of the season and UTEP's Female Athletic of Year.
